Amit Narkar

Executive Director

A post-graduate in Economics, Amit joined NCAS in 2009. He primarily works on issues of adivasis and development with a special focus on budget analysis from tribal perspective. He contributes to research and writing on developmental and governance issues related to adivasis and facilitates sessions in Advocacy Capacity Building workshops organised by NCAS for students of Social Work and activists of CSOs. He is a Guest Faculty at YASHADA, Pune and has conducted sessions on Human Rights and District Administration in training programmes for district level government officials in Maharashtra. Amit has been associated with literacy and science popularization movements, and with groups working for universalisation of elementary education, disability rights and environment protection in Maharashtra and Goa. He has worked in television media, is an independent filmmaker and has directed two documentary films.He has worked as research, script and production coordinator for a couple of documentary films on issues of development and social concern. He also regularly writes for newspapers and magazines on issues of social concern.

Sandeep Pattnaik

Programme Co-ordinator

Sandeep joined NCAS in 2000 and has since served in various capacities. He has a degree in Masters in Social Work and has been primarily involved in the activities of the Adivasi Resource Centre. In 2007, Sandeep participated in the Human Rights Advocacy Programme (HRAP) at Columbia University’s Center for the Study of Human Rights (CSHR) in New York. He currently presides over the NCAS desk in Orissa.

Snehal Sharma

Programme Officer (Research and Capacity Building)

Snehal has done her MA in Gender, Culture and Development Studies from University of Pune. She is a Graduate in Journalism and possesses P.G. Diploma in Development Communication. Prior to this, she has a work experience of more than 5 years in development sector. She has worked in different capacities in different organisations including Pune University where she worked as Research Coordinator. Her area of interest is rights of disadvantaged section of the society especially, women and child rights, gender budgeting and women's citizenship.

Sahil Kalloli

Programme Associate (Research and Media)

Sahil has a Masters in Computer Applications. A System Administrator by profession, he is Open Source user and promoter. He is also involved in Linux popularisation and training. Prior to joining NCAS, Sahil worked on Maharashtra Water issue, Disaster Management issue at PRAYAS (Resources and Livelihood), Pune. Sahil is associated with Science and Math popularisation movements, and with groups working for universalisation of elementary education in Maharashtra and Tripura. He is active in different socio-political-cultural youth groups and a theatre activist. He regularly writes for newspapers and magazines on issues of social concern. At NCAS, he manages social media and is leading creation of an online portal on RTE. He also contributes in youth outreach prorammes and events of NCAS.

Himani Pathak

Programme Associate (Research)

Himani completed her Bachelors in Economics from Fergusson College, Pune and did her MA in Economics from Department of Economics, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. She also spent a semester in Germany during her Master’s program. She studied Development Economics at the University of Göttingen, Germany. Currently at NCAS she is working on the analysis of Municipal Budgets. She has a keen interest in languages and has completed advanced levels of German and Sanskrit.

Lingangouda Patil

Programme Assistant

Lingangouda holds a Masters degree in Commerce. Before joining NCAS, he worked as Office Assistant and Marketing and Sales Executive at Creative Medi Systems, a firm dealing in medical and surgical equipment in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa. His portfolio of independent assignments include working as DOP (Director of Photography) and camera handling for short films and documentary films on issues of social concern. He has also worked on two documentary films produced by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and Maharashtra Sugarcane cutting and Transport Workers’ Union. He is also the Director at a community based organisation ‘Harsha Youth Foundation’ that works on education and good governance in North Karnataka. Amongst extracurricular activities, Lingangouda captained and represented his school, college and university in various cricket tournaments. As Programme Assistant at NCAS, he takes care of Learning @NCAS initiatives and simultaneously assists in other programmes.

Rajan Pawara

Programme Assistant

A post-graduate in Social Work in Urban And Rural Development, From North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, Rajan joined NCAS in 2016. Before Joining NCAS he Worked as a Master Trainer on a project on Gram Panchayat Devt. Program(GPDP) for YASHADA, in Zila Parishads of Dhule and Nandurbar. As a programme assistant at NCAS, He Primarily works on research on issues of Adivasis and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG).

Priti Ukey

Programme Assistant

Priti completed her bachelors in Microbiology from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and did Masters in Water Policy and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences,Mumbai. Before Joining NCAS she worked as a Project Fellow with Samvedana Samaj Vikas Sanstha, Akola. She has worked on the processes of implementation of Community Forest Rights Act, (CFRA) in tribal villages. At NCAS , she is assisting in research on education and development of Adivasis.

Shilpa Kulkarni

Accounts Officer

Shilpa did M.Com with a specialization in Advanced Accounting & Costing. She began her work with a Chartered Accountant’s firm in 1994 from where she moved on to work as an Accounts Officer with Community Aid and Sponsorship Program (CASP) at their Head Office in Pune. Shilpa has been with NCAS since January 2012.

Manik Golangde


Manik joined the NCAS team in October, 2002. He serves as the Driver cum Office Assistant. He also assists the NCAS Library and Documentation Unit

Meghan Kadam

Student Intern

Meghan is a student of Economics, Political Science, Philosophy and Law at Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, Pune. He is interested in Development Studies. At NCAS, he is working on the theme of Adivasi Nutrition. He also helps in budget analysis work of NCAS. Meghan hails from Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Hannah Ashraf

Student Intern

Hannah is studying Political Science, Philosophy and Law at Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, Pune. She is curious to know as much as possible about public policy and governance. She is interning with NCAS to gain knowledge about public policy analysis and people centred advocacy as a tool for social change. Hannah hails from Malappuram, Kerala.

Nazia Altaf

Student Intern

Nazia, a student of Economics at the School for Liberal Arts, Pune is deeply interested in development studies. She hopes to acquire basic skills necessary for policy analysis during her internship with NCAS. Nazia hails from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

Niranjan Nampoothiri

Student Intern

Niranjan is studying Political Science and International Relations at Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, Pune. He has a very keen interest in political economy, international affairs, climate change and development. As a student intern at NCAS, he is studying drought situation in Maharashtra and MGNREGS. He is also helping NCAS in documenting cases of community led collective actions aimed at localized solution for drought mitigation. Niranjan’s family is based out of Kerala, and he has spent most of his formative years in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
